I know this a topic discussed over and over again, but I'm wondering if some of our detailing opponauts can offer up some suggestions. I do not have covered parking at my house, and I am wondering what is a good sealant to use for sun protection. Outside of July and August, we get virtually no rain, so I don't have to wash my cars a lot. I also have two kids, so I don't have a lot of free time available for car detailing. I need something that applies fairly easily and lasts a good amount of time. I don't need show car shine, but I like my cars to look good. I have a Abarth in a graphite color and a space gray 335d. I've heard good things about collinite 845 and collinite 915's longevity, as well as Fk1000P.

I highly recommend Prima Hydro Max for regular maintenance protection. It's a synthetic spray wax that goes on as easily as quick detailer. Wash your car, dry it, spray and wipe Hydro Max with a fluffy microfiber towel and your car always has wax on it. It doesn't last forever, although the claim is it lasts a couple months. I put it on after every wash which is roughly once a month and find dirt and bugs wash right off.

I've been meaning to put a coat of Prima Epic (your traditional liquid synthetic wax) on as a sturdy base coat, but now it's too hot to want to do it. Epic is easy to work with, gives a deep gloss (I guess, my car is off-white...) and is durable.

Prima products are used by pros (I learned about them from ShowCarDetailing), but are amateur-friendly.

Drop those flame-throwers boys, I am wearing my US Navy issued Nomex flight suit. I too, hate to wax my car every two months and I recently switched over to Nufinish. It is a paint sealer, not a caranauba wax, it will protect and shine easily for one year. What I really like is that it is easy to put on, easy to buff off, and it the shine is great. Cost = $7.00. I suggest that you clay bar and polish your car before applying the Nufinish for best results. For the price, I am quite satisfied.
